Document IDs in Word, done automatically.

EasyID puts your firm's document identification, such as document number, version and client and matter, into Word documents saved in iManage Work, consistently and automatically.

A document ID is only useful if it is always there and always the same

Firms rely on the ID in a footer to trace a draft back to the DMS. When it is applied by hand, it is missing from some documents, out of date in others, and formatted differently by every author.

What you get

  • Firm-defined tag profiles. Build tags from any combination of text and iManage metadata, such as document number, version, client and matter, in the font and size you choose.
  • Header, footer or body placement. Left, centre or right in the header or footer, on odd or even pages, or at the cursor in the body. Tags slot into existing header and footer tables.
  • Automatic or on demand. Apply the default tag automatically on save or on open, keep tags current as metadata changes, or apply and remove with one click from the Word Home ribbon.
  • Deployed firm-wide. Profiles ship with the add-in through iManage Control Center, and you can restrict who may change settings to a named group.
  • Migration from other identifiers. Legacy DOCID and other identifier fields are removed automatically as documents are opened.
  • Ready for how your people work. English and French interfaces, multiple iManage servers, and co-authoring support.

Works with

Microsoft Word 2016 and Microsoft 365, with iManage Work 10 on premises, iManage.Work and cloudiManage.com. Co-authoring with iManage Work 10.10 or later.

Common questions

Can different document types use different IDs?

Yes. Save as many tag profiles as you need and pick one from the ribbon, with one set as the default.

‍

Does it replace our existing footer macros?

Yes. EasyID replaces home-grown macros and third-party identifiers such as DOCID, and strips the old field codes as documents are opened.

‍

Can it be enforced?

Yes. Set the default profile to apply automatically on save, and limit settings access to a named group so nobody changes the tag.
