Easy Import

Right-click, and it's in iManage.

EasyImport lets any user right-click files or folders in Windows and send them into iManage Work with the correct metadata, with no administrator involved.

Content arrives outside iManage every day

Client files on a USB stick, downloads from a data room, a new starter's folders. Drag-and-drop loses the folder structure and leaves profiling to the user, so content ends up sitting on shared drives instead of in the DMS.

What you get

• Right-click import. Select one file, many files or an entire folder tree in Windows, then choose Copy to iManage Work or Move to iManage Work from the Send To menu.
• Metadata applied automatically. Documents take the destination folder's class and profile. Show the profile dialog for every document, or only when something required is missing.
• Folder structures preserved. Bring across the whole hierarchy or just the contents. A folder with the same name as an existing folder merges into it.
• Version-aware. Import as a new document, as a new version of an existing document, or replace the original.
• Clean imports. Hidden and system files are skipped, and you can exclude file types. Emails are filed with the subject as the document name.
• Traceable. Each imported document can carry a comment with its original path and dates, and an import summary confirms what happened.
• Self-service, within limits. Users import without IT, and administrators can limit the menu to copy only or move only.

Common questions

How is this different from Import?

EasyImport is for individual users importing their own content. Import is the administrator tool for bulk, datasheet-driven loads such as lateral hire onboarding.

Does it move or copy?

Either. Users choose Copy or Move from the menu, and administrators can restrict it to one or the other.

Do folder structures come across?

Yes. Folders and subfolders are recreated in the workspace.
