Files, folders and email into iManage, in one run.
Import bulk-loads files and folders from Windows into the right iManage Work workspaces, matched by profile data, so support staff can onboard a lateral hire or a whole department in one run.
New hires arrive with folders, not workspaces
When lawyers join, their prior content arrives as folders on a drive. Someone has to work out which client and matter each folder belongs to, then load it workspace by workspace. It is slow, prone to error, and the new hire cannot start until it is done.
What you get
- Three ways in. Folder imports, document-level imports and PST email imports, each driven by a simple CSV datasheet.
- Datasheet-driven targeting. Map source folders or files to client and matter workspaces, and supply class, author and custom metadata per document where you need to.
- Folder structures merged. Sub-folders are created under matching workspace folders, and anything unmatched lands in an import folder you name.
- Legacy numbering kept. Preserve document numbers and version sets from a previous document management system.
- Filters. Include or exclude by path, file extension, size or hidden status, and emails by date range.
- Delta imports without duplicates. Re-run a task to pick up new files and choose to skip, version or replace what is already there. Retry only the items that failed.
- Scheduled and reviewed. Schedule runs, then review every item's outcome in the Import Viewer, with links straight into iManage.
- Housekeeping. Leave, move or delete the source files once imported.
Works with
iManage Work 10 on premises, iManage.Work and cloudiManage.com. Source content on Windows local drives or network shares.
Common questions
How is this different from EasyImport?
Import is an administrator tool for bulk, datasheet-driven loads. EasyImport is a right-click tool for individual users to import their own files.
How are documents profiled?
From the destination folder's class by default, or per document from the datasheet: class, author, operator and any custom field.
Does it handle very large imports?
Yes. Imports are scheduled tasks that run unattended, and failed items can be retried on their own without re-running everything.
